It is hard to revive one's passion over a moribund project. However, since getting on the Internet, I realized the book can have another life in another form. This inspires and motivates me to go back and relive the cathartic yet uplifting emotions I had in writing the book.
The quotation above by Lao-Tzu, the Chinese philosopher and reputed founder of Taoism, rings in my head and encourages me to go on.
The Internet as a semi-permanent global forum, bulletin board and exhibition space give me the unprecedented opportunity to share ideas, experiences, feelings and other insights freely and honestly. Creating and sharing something that can be appreciated by the world-at-large gives me a tremendous sense of empowerment and also responsibility. I believe in the Internet's credo of free information interchange.
One of the reasons why the book did not see the light of day is the unwillingness of book publishers to print first-time authors without preconditions. Now, I can be my own publisher and so can you. Publishing electronically is the wave of the now and the future.
As a "living book," this work is by no means complete nor finished. I share my work with a view to encourage and inspire individuals to live positively and to look at design with a more critical eye. I hope you enjoy this, my praise on the Art of Oriental Living.
