n a dynamic and competitive community like Hong Kong, corporate image counts a lot. A good appearance is synonymous with success. A well designed functional office spells confidence and other attributes that attract people and business.
Corporate work is a different kind of challenge. Delivery and cost factors of the project are paramount concerns.
Building owners are keen to present an impressive lobby so they could command better price in the property in the market.
The New Henry House in Hong Kong use to be a dreary place to enter. I was working with the Hong Kong architects Palmer and Turner when I redesigned the new lobby of this old building centrally located in the heart of the business district.
The basic design concept for this lobby calls for better lighting. Symmetrically arranged marble arches illuminate the recessed walls. The antique gold leafed ceiling tiles offset the light and dark travertine marble giving the lobby a subtle richness.
