Left: Driving in our countryside, I was attracted to the many mature bamboo trees sprouting dense formation of young leaves at the end of their poles. They dangle and sway in the winds from a height of 20 to 40 feet. I could not resist bringing one home. But plucking one from a height was not easy so I recruited a coconut climber to gather it.
Middle: The 9 feet long clump of dried bamboo was hanged under the staircase of my home. I accented the bamboo leaves with maroon amaranthus caudatus also known as "love-lies-bleeding" that I bought in San Francisco. It is simple yet dramatic.
Right: The bamboo leaves still hanging in its place have turned brownish
over time and is now over laid with dried palm fruit buds and other seedpods bought from the local market. As added embelishment, I also hanged small imitation gold coins to discreetly invoke prosperity.
Completing my design projects gives me the opportunity to revive my other interest, Fleur East Collection. This will now be reincarnated as FleurEast.com. I envision FleurEast.com as a floral source
not only of arrangements but also raw and finished products.
FleurEast.com is still under development but you can see the new Fleur East Collection in the
Showcase Section. It is an extensive portfolio of architectural flower arrangements in silk, dry and mix materials. The dry arrangements are recently made and utilize dried or preserved local botanicals that I have experimented on.
